Arts, Culture & History Await You in Georgia's Historic Heartland

Central Georgia boasts a rich history along with a vibrant arts and cultural scene. Additionally, opportunities for outdoor recreation abound, with hunting and fishing topping the list.

Macon is the largest city in this region, featuring extensive Native American, African American, antebellum, and civil war history. But Macon's unique musical heritage sets it apart. Music legends Otis Redding and The Allman Brothers called Macon home, and the singer and band are both memorialized in town. A thriving performing arts scene is evidence that Macon's commitment to the performing arts continues today. Macon is also home to five colleges and universities, ensuring that residents who are interested in furthering their education have plenty of options locally.

Milledgeville was once the capital city of Georgia, and today is home to Georgia College and State University. The fairgrounds in Perry are home to the Georgia National Rodeo each February as well as the Georgia National Fair, which takes place each October. Warner Robins is home to Robins Air Force Base  and was named "best place in Georgia in which to raise a family" by Business Week.
