Unpoiled Scenery and Presidential History in West Georgia

A varied landscape with marked by presidential history is the hallmark of the west Georgia region. Several waterways converge in this region, making it an ideal spot for aquatic recreation. Residents can enjoy an afternoon floating down the Chattahoochee or boating on West Point Lake, and discover the great outdoors by visiting several state parks and campgrounds that dot the area.

Columbus is a bustling city that offers a variety of cultural and leisure experiences - such as the Coca-Cola Space Science Center - in addition to a thriving arts and theater scene. Fort Benning, located on the outskirts of Columbus,is home to more than 120,000 military personnel and their families.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt loved this region of Georgia and built a home - dubbed The Little White House - in Warm Springs. Warm Springs was also the site of a rehabilitation hospital for polio patients. Today, it is a celebrated landmark that is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Finally, the natural beauty of Callaway Gardens draws thousands of visitors each year with its conference facilities, holiday displays and central location inside a region that offers a myriad of activities.
